Drift diving is one of the most pleasurable underwater experiences imaginable. Flying along the reefs, divers are able to cover long distances underwater, seeing more habitats and formations than usual.
Add to that the fact that the steady northerly current flowing in the Gulf keeps the drift diving areas free from sediment, thereby increasing visibility, and you'll understand why so many of divers flock to Cozumel and the Riviera Maya.
Cozumel has walls and reefs that offer endless swim-throughs and passages, allowing the divers to alternate between drifting along, swimming into a labyrinth, then popping out again into the current and fly further down the reef.
